The Friends of Armenian Culture Society will present the 64th annual “Armenian Night at the Pops” on Fri., June 5, at 8 p.m. at Boston’s Symphony Hall. The evening will feature the young violinist Sammy Andonian from the Boston area. He will join Maestro Keith Lockhart in a debut performance with the Boston Pops Orchestra, performing the virtuosic and emotive violin concerto of Felix Mendelssohn. Armenian Night at the Pops this year will also salute another Boston native, the renowned Armenian-American composer Alan Hovhaness, in a performance of his solemn “Prayer of St. Gregory” as a special remembrance of the victims of the genocide. The evening will be a great tribute to Armenian culture in this important year of commemoration and will also feature an exciting selection of Pops favorites to be selected by the audience via their web-enabled devices.
